The research that Abraham Hurtado has initiated at the Espacios Expandidos Residency is related to listening to our surroundings as a place of affection, skills, or transformative behaviours during our artistic practices. The power of change through time spent listening to others, the power of changing patterns, the power of change in ourselves. In this residency, he focused on understanding how fear is transmitted through sound and how humans acquire fear through the sounds emitted by other species. BIO

Abraham Hurtado understood the body as the container of emotions, both personal and social. He was interested in generating patterns of “antisocial behavior,” states he explored as paths to find other ways to operate, adapt, and survive in contemporary society. Fictional atmospheres are often the settings in which the bodies are installed as a counterbalance to the disillusionment. His practices focused on discomfort, as it constantly mirrors us, addressing it through the individual experience. Problems that are political and symptomatic. If the personal is political, the political invades the core of every individual.
