Cruce – Immersive Residency Program | October 2025
My project, Evaporar, emerged through a regular practice of walking in and around the nearby salina. I extended the notion of psychogeography to “psychogeology,” examining how the visible history of geologic processes informed my experience of this space. The resulting photo, assemblage, and writing-based project uses evaporation and crystallization as conceptual and material processes to explore personal and collective relationships with the site.
BIO
Working with textile, paint, found objects, Carson explores the interplay of sculpture and image-making. Her experiences as a farmer and carpenter inform her material sensibilities. Led by a curiosity of evidence of the human hand, Carson’s practice investigates material agency, ownership, labor, and f/utility. Her work responds to and occupies spaces where public and private, wild and domestic meet–often transforming her home and garden into an exhibition space. Based in Durham, North Carolina, Carson has exhibited in many regional galleries such as Lump, Sertoma, Golden Belt, Artspace, and Ada Gallery. She is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at UNC Chapel Hill.
