Sal da Boca is a work in progress involving research and creation that intertwines voice, memory, movement, and text. The project is conceived as a choreographic concert that seeks, through the political and choreographic use of voice and sound, to generate shared memories and fictions between bodies and territories, bringing to life experiences that are apparently no longer there or cannot be seen, but which persist in time in a sonic and material form.
I focus on the experience of a corporeality that emerges from the connection between bodies, sounds, and territories. Through the evocation of memories, sounds, and geomorphologies, I seek to access the body’s memory and the materials that make up the territories, recognizing the empirical sensitivity built up over time between a body and the spaces that surround it.
My body, as a vehicle, channel, and resonator, becomes a means of accessing altered states of consciousness, giving rise to a language and a corporeality that manifest themselves in the dialogue and listening between bodies and their environments.
BIO
I am a body artist, born in Colombia, raised in Brazil, with a particular focus on exploring the connection between dance, choreography, and performance. In addition, I research and study the fields of anthropology and sound art. I am driven by the desire to break down all kinds of symbolic, political, and biopolitical hierarchies, including the hierarchy between human and non-human, living and dead, nature and culture. My work and research, which, on a formal level, takes the form of stage works, performances, sound installations, and texts, attempts to deconstruct the notion of agency through the development of different technologies for deforming and affecting the body, understanding that we are always agents and are acted upon by our environment. I have worked professionally as a dancer with Lia Rodrigues, Marcela Levi, Lucía Russo, Tino Sehgal, Li Ning, Yuko Caseki, and Elisabete Finger, with whom I currently collaborate. In 2017, I began creating my own works, both individually and collaboratively. My projects have received support from the Goethe Institute, NordiskKulturfond, Itaú Cultural, Galerie Wedding Berlin, Lake Studios Berlin, Fórum Dança, Casa da Dança de Almada, CAMPUSPC Portugal, and Acción Cultural Española. Currently, I am an artist affiliated with the cultural association La Parceria in Madrid, where I have been teaching the educational project CUERPOS SONOROS since 2023. I am also in the process of creating and researching my new work entitled Sal da Boca, Lo que no está aún existe (Sal da Boca, What is not yet there still exists).
In collaboration with Acción Cultural Española.
