My work is driven by fascinations, questions, and anguish – my deepest fear: the future of this planet. At its core, my practice explores aspects of the condition humaine, often arising from an intuitive attraction to certain materials or phenomena. My artistic practice is not dedicated to one media, subject or technique. But some materials reappear regularly – such as garbage (a lot of plastic), the human body, food, medical instruments, rubber and liquids – especially water, the oceans. Over the years, sound and the work with field recordings has become an increasingly important element in my work, sometimes evolving into standalone sound pieces. Often, my process begins with a fascination for the aesthetic qualities of a material, its surface, texture, hidden history – and from there, the conceptual framework begins to emerge. Most of my work is rather conceptual, but my intention for a piece of work is to distill an essence which also works in its pure aesthetic or even poetic way, without any further knowledge. However, there is the option to discover several layers of deeper meaning for those willing to explore the rabbit holes.

1971 born in Stuttgart, Germany. 2001 master’s degree in comparative literature and art history, University of Stuttgart. 2005 first solo show, since then national and international exhibitions. Artist in residencies in Japan and at AADK Spain. Lives & works in Stuttgart, Germany & dép. Gironde, France
