The Immersive Residencies at the Salinas del Curro take place in a desert-like natural environment, defined by salt, aridity, and extreme climate conditions during certain periods. Located in a semi-arid landscape, these salt flats form a fragile ecosystem where the climate, water scarcity, and temperature fluctuations profoundly shape the body’s experience and perception of the surroundings.

The program proposes immersive and site-specific work, in which artists live in the territory for an extended period, exploring practices of bodily listening, somatic awareness, and physical endurance. The relative isolation and intensity of the landscape encourage processes of deceleration and attunement to the rhythms of the place.

These residencies open a field of artistic research focused on the relationship between body and territory, considering more-than-human ecologies and non-extractive modes of inhabitation. The immersive experience activates creative practices that integrate sustainability, care, and adaptation, inviting ephemeral and reflective interventions.

Currently, we do not have an open call for Immersive Residencies, as the program is on pause to allow the territory itself to rest and regenerate. We recommend applying through the Situated Residencies call, with durations from one to six months (two months is the recommended minimum). The call opens several times a year.

Artists from all disciplines are welcome to apply, as well as researchers whose artistic practice is part of their study or methodology.
