Inneke Taal (she/her) is interested in sculptural and audio-visual interpretations of architecture, languages, human inhabitation and geography as intersecting body-ecologies. Here in Blanca, she is responding to the sonic and tactile dialogue between Centro Negra and its internal and external geography. In particular, how these bodies (architecture, geological forms and humans) are held in tension and could be understood as instruments awaiting a resounding.

BIO 

Inneke Taal (she/her) adapts performative and linguistic approaches using moving image, sound, spatial interventions and performance in her visual
arts practices. Inneke Taal is interested in movement within processes of making and its affective possibilities. She draws upon a cross-section of
research that includes concepts within physics and philosophy as well as other movement-based disciplines in the performing arts, finding material
analogues that communicate invisible and critical activations of space and embodied awarenesses. Through spatial and audio-visual practice, Taal
often engages in reflexive techniques referencing sites or acts of making that preference a holding of time and space in dialogue.

She has a Master of Fine Art & Design from Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, a Bachelor of Visual Art Honours from Adelaide Central
School of Art in Adelaide, Australia and a Bachelor of Arts in Drama & Linguistics from Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia. Inneke is invested in
sustainable ways of working for artists and values collaborative practices as an integral part of her overall practice. She is a member of tandem
projects with artist Nicole Clift (AU) since 2019, and more recently, working as part of a collaborative trio with artists Angelina Nonaj (AL/IT) and
Nayoung Choi (KR) as stük, as well as engaging in other performance collaborations. As a solo artist, Taal was shortlisted as a finalist in the inaugural
FluxusMuseum Experimental Video Prize in 2024 in Paros, Greece, exhibiting alongside 35 other international finalists with her work ‘The artist has no
materials (16 acts of making)’. Inneke received the the Anne and Gordon SAMSTAG International Visual Art Scholarship for 2023-24. Her solo exhibition
Site Interrupted (2022) at Sauerbier House, South Australia, was nominated with a Weekly Award for Art and Design by the Adelaide Fringe Festival.
