The work understands skin and landscape as zones of sensation rather than representational images. Drawing on Deleuzian notions of becoming and affect, it uses sewing and lightweight textile materials to produce fragile, semi-transparent forms that attach to and extend from architectural surfaces. Layers are treated as processes rather than fixed structures, generating tactile intensities that suggest repair and healing as continuous modulations rather than fixed outcomes.

BIO 

Jieru Zhang is a London-based interdisciplinary artist working across textiles, garment construction, painting, mixed media, and speculative body design. A graduate of the Royal College of Art (Textiles), she approaches the body as a mutable archive shaped by trauma, memory, and sensory experience. Her practice explores how emotional states — particularly those formed under PTSD—reshape perception, reorganize bodily boundaries, and generate new forms of internal and external architecture.
