I started my residency by taking my portable recorder out to cafes, the market, and the busiest areas to discover the daily life of the town, its customs, and the distinctive elements of its cultural heritage. The first recordings begin in the streets and on the terraces of Blanca.

Together with  Rafael, another resident at that time, we recorded the town band and other visiting bands during their rehearsals in preparation for Holy Week. The soundscape came together with some recordings of my voice that narrated stories or short poems.

BIO

Malú López is a multidisciplinary artist born in Almería and based in Berlin. She conducts research that explores the field of psychosomatics, experimental sound, tradition, and physical expression. Malu is a designer of experiences and a community builder who has worked since 2013 as a curator, radio host, DJ, body expression instructor, and event manager, intertwining sound art and various forms of body-based therapies.
