After the Wound in Palacio Almudí

After the Wound in Palacio Almudí

Our collective exhibition Después de la Herida —After the Wound— was inaugurated on April 22, in Palacio Almudí Art Center, Murcia. Curated by Abraham Hurtado, who also participates as an artist, the exhibition brings together works by Elena Azzedín, Juan Conesa, Giuliana Grippo, Selu Herraiz and Aurora Rodríguez.

Arranged in five installations, three of them including soundscapes, it proposes a critical look at our relationship with the landscape, and reflects upon our ability to reinvent ourselves after a catastrophe.

The exhibition will remain open until May 30, and can be visited from Monday to Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., as well as on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Within the framework of the Museum Day of the region of Murcia, on Saturday the 15th of May, a series of activities will be carried out by the artists. Find out about the complete program at the end of this page.

12.00h Presentation of the schedule and concert preview

Julio Navarro Albero and Abraham Hurtado along with the artists will present the activities of the day. Al de la Algaida will preview his concert.

12.15 h Inhabiting the Ruin. Action by Selu Herráiz

For the realization of this piece, Selu Herráiz has used materials collected from the land where he lives: accumulated rubble after the passage of the last Dana (cold drop), electronic waste and obsolete devices that have formed and formatted fragments of his identity.
“I imagined living in a moment when everything had ended, the world as we knew it had ceased to exist. I imagined myself alone … No one for miles around. I felt liberated. The imagined ruin was a very harsh habitat. My only belongings were a handful of found objects and my most intimate photos — a memento of the feeling of companionship and deep love. My only dedications were finding a residual electromagnetic field and being a person. Still … I felt liberated. ”

12.35 h Archeology of tourism. Activation of space by Aurora Rodríguez

Archeology of tourism is an idyllic and outdated setting where the exotic and the holiday go into crisis. Composed of old posters, objects collected from
Abandoned hotels and a video piece, the installation criticizes the ingenuity with which we have commercialized and touristified entire regions of our country in pursuit of an economic model that is neither commercially nor ecologically sustainable.
During her performance, Aurora Rodriguez will occupy the exhibition space as a place to spend her summer vacations.

18:00 h Mediation of the exhibition “After the Wound” by Elena Azzedín and Giuliana Grippo

Elena and Giuliana will invite visitors to take a detailed look at each of the installations that make up this exhibition.
The consequences of consumption systems, the loss of ties and memory, and the transformation of the landscape are the axes on which we will reflect in this activity.

19:00 h Rites of a Fallen body. Concert by AL de La Algaida with the collaboration of Josman P# on guitar *.

In a land that gives us wisdom and teaches us to survive in the territory we inhabit, AL de la Algaida tries to catch the emotions that pass through him: a prolonged voice in space, a journey on intimate spirituality imagining that the moan of the earth could awaken our sleeping thoughts. His concert will explore electronic sounds, combined with a voice that tries to release the emotions of love found or lost, in a place that bears witness to our secrets: the landscape.

* This activity requires a reservation due to limited capacity.
