CRUCE

Cruce

Space for transformation

AADK Cruce started at the end of 2020 and since then has hosted more than 70 national and international creators. It received artists from various disciplines, as well as participants working outside the field of the arts.  This has created temporary communities, sharing time and space with the participants of our Research Residency Programme and the population of the Valley.

In this new phase we are committed to making our resources and infrastructure available to people looking for decentralized places to work remotely.

Cruce encourages independence and seeks to preserve cultural diversity and pluralism. Our platform works as a temporary community, an ecosystem of actors able to work in a remote place like the Ricote Valley, creating a sustainable circular economy with the inhabitants of Blanca. We promote innovative living models and alternative ways of thinking.

Surrounded by nature, the rural setting of Blanca allows you to experience the traditions and customs of a village in the south of Spain. We want to focus on artists, thinkers, digital nomads and entrepreneurs. Our programme offers accommodation, studios, coworking areas and event spaces.

We operate with packages of stays from 2 weeks to 6 months as well as logistics, organization and communication.

About the spaces

Coworking, artist studios and accommodation

Centro Negra
Centro Negra is the main building of AADK Spain. It serves as working space and occasionally as an exhibition area. It is located on the slope of a mountain, being reachable only on foot (about 5 minutes walk from the center of Blanca).
On the top of this mountain stand the remains of a Moorish castle of the twelfth century. At the beginning of the twentieth century this area was used for animal husbandry. Therefore, an assembly of small poultry yards slowly developed, but fell later into disuse. In 2009 a group of these constructions were recovered and transformed into the modern and integrated building of the Center.
The current studios and coworking area is made up of 6 different and interconnected spaces. Each of them is unique in its size and morphology, constituting a set of great versatility and capable of adapting to multiple purposes.

Coworking
Our coworking is in Centro Negra, the same building as our artist studios, with great views to the valley. It is a spatious office with an outside chill out zone and a little kitchen to prepare tea/coffee. In case of accommodation requests, access to the coworking is included in the price.

Artist studios
At the moment we have 5 artist studios available for the participants of our Cruce Program and our Residency Program. The participants of the two programs form a temporary community, sharing common spaces, and due to the specific structure of the building, passing through each others’ studios from time to time.

Accommodation
Our individual studio apartments are located in the immediate distance and with direct access to Centro Negra. The apartments are equipped with a private kitchen and bathroom (shower + toilet), and terrace for common use with amazing views of Blanca. Bedding and towels are provided.

Our shared house in Blanca, named EDOM, is a 5 minutes walk from Centro Negra. It consists of six bedrooms, shared living room, 1 shared kitchen, and 3 bathrooms. The house is equipped with a washing machine, bedding and towels. EDOM is located at the heart of the village, so it has excellent access to all shops and stores. It is ideal to immerse into Blanca’s life and to foster exchange and collaboration.
