Ruralrrarism
These images were created by Abraham Hurtado when returning, after a long time, to Ricote Valley, his place of birth. Being his main discipline performative arts, the body was his material. In this series, he tries to find a way in which to bring the landscape to the bodies. Something that reflects the materiality and chromaticism of a rural world interwoven with the winds of globalization. Far from a picturesque and nostalgic look, the images stress the relationship of those two worlds in a rare overlap. They suggest an imaginary related to the tribe and the ritual in a time where the bonds and beliefs of the past dissolve without finding new forms yet.
Some of the portraits are made later in Barcelona, Stockholm and Berlin, where in addition to the use of esparto, the settings are decontextualized.
