In her practice, Amanda gathers natural materials from her surroundings to dye fiber, make paper or create pigments and inks. Unpredictability and experimentation drive her decisions and methods, making the process just as important, if not more, than the final work.

At Blanca, Amanda has experimented with materials from the environment to extract their colors, and ladder dying her yarns to begin a series of looms that represent Blanca’s topography.

In these pieces, image and materiality speak of a place through a balanced use of its resources, many of which are remains that no one uses.
