15 Mar Anabel Labrador
Programa de Residencias: Enero 2016
Bye, bye! Thank you. Opera in 5 acts
Videoinstallation and life performance.
The work that Anabel Labrador has developed during the residency period within AADK Spain residency, is an autobiographical piece which reflects the end of “a life” – a path led by the guts and fed by the discipline and imagination.
Devoted to dance and interpretation since she was a child – this passion has driven her to travel around the world and to work within a wide spectrum of contemporary art. Assuming the risks brought with it, she dared to explore it inch by inch.
All the beauty and vital learning that this profession contains has sometimes a high price – the uncertainty, rootlessness and the diluted frontiers between life and art. A world in which the symbolic capital it precedes the wish for stability, and where only the commodifiable is being remunerated: the struggle is exhausting. Eventually, comes the moment to report back to oneself.
Sometimes is better to kill the wish of dying in the stage before the wish kills us.
Bye, bye! Thank you, is a piece full of symbolism which reflects not only a personal story, but a conflict which also affects many others. People who have given their life to share their universe with the audience. This work is a statement which sets a dignified life above destructive utopias.
