Anne Fie Salverda

Residency period: November 2019

During her residency, Anne Fie Salverda was curious to expand her own animation style and trying out new working methods. She decided to explore different animation techniques and go beyond her usual mixed media and computer ones. For this project, Anne challenged herself to base her animation process only on analog drawings. She documented the environment of Blanca through photography and video, to later transform this material into her own visual world, using rotoscoping technique. 

Anne comes from the Netherlands: a completely different natural and visual environment. Because of this, her approach to Blanca is that of an observer in an unknown surrounding.

During her process, she was engaged in exploring alternative forms of narration which are not tied to a story line structured with a specific beginning or ending. She primarily attempts to give room for emotions and spatial atmospheres.
