September 2019

Beatriz Gijón, composer and improviser of experimental music, has developed an action in which voice and movements respond to the sounds collected from the landscape.

Trained in classical piano, her interest and creative restlessness led her to expand the idea of sound composition beyond the use of musical instruments.

Gijón’s attentive listening changes her perception of the world; she is a sound wave explorer who composes live with the sound of everyday life.

During this month of residence she has oriented her practice towards working with the body, incorporating the voice and movement expands her field of creation to other languages that allow her to generate new situations.

October 2019

Following the line of her previous work in which she creates a fictional landscape with elements found in Blanca and the interaction with the visual / sound, Beatriz has developed a collaborative installation.

It consists of facilitating a space that invites the public to interact with some cane-made brushes, whose shape works as a musical instrument.
It emits an acoustic sound when touched, so everyone who wants to is invited to “paint with sounds”.

Contact microphones allow us to perceive textures that go unnoticed by sight or touch, giving a new dimension to the details.
