“Irse en el abrazo” is a research into the intersection of dance, cinema, and performance.
The project stems from the intention of generating a methodology of engagement, which allows establishing a horizontal relationship of close trust, support and listening between the duo of filmmakers and each performer, producing visual and sound recordings of choreographic improvisations, conversations and experimental exercises, which respond to each feature.
Bunster and Abarza look into those intimate spaces of creation where these dancing bodies seek their own artistic identities, while they, through the mishmash of the various materials in the performance, question their own.
During the residency and in collaboration with Rubén Peinado they have been able to experience the relationship between body and landscape, body and architecture. Using a piece of fabric as a device that channels invisible presences -such as air or gravity- by exposing it to different elements. On the other hand, the colour and texture of the fabric, close to his body, allow him to merge with the environment and drag the landscape with it.
Belén and Eduardo, in their way of reproducing the work, question the formal rigidity of their original disciplines, theatre and cinema, in which, especially in the latter, once it is going to be screened, it is no longer modifiable.
Their handling and intervention of the live projectors, and their distortion through different lenses allow a living experience that brings them closer to that of the collaborators.
Games of sharpness and blur allow an organicity in which the image is shown or escapes, establishing spaces for diverse listening and personal experience in those who attend the action.
