By using the cyanotype process, Deni Javas has been documenting the plants of Blanca, particularly those which are characteristically present, but non-native. Watching them thrive, Javas has considered the concept of adaptability, in environments where one is an intruder, an alien. In order to adapt there has to be a surrender to the host environment. She began this journey by investigating the threads of the agave plant which is native to New Mexico and considered invasive in Spain.
In the process, the artist has been exploring old crafts techniques of other cultures with local material, interweaving physical and intellectual knowledge, and inverting processes such with sketching three dimensional objects and translating volume, lite and dynamic into bidimensional oubres.
