“Memorabilia del Segura or Liquid Memory”

Water is a vital element not only for human beings but also for all beings that inhabit this planet. The interesting thing is that the water itself has life and memory. In a drop of water there is an entire ecosystem of bacteria working in harmony to complete the life cycle of other beings (purifying the water, freeing themselves of pathogens and at the same time in their habitat). It is the only one of the elements that keeps a memory in its molecular pattern. That is, water remembers and records frequencies within its cellular structure. The water molecules that surround a certain substance capture and retain electromagnetic waves emitted by that substance after it has been diluted to the point of disappearing.

Masaru Emoto, a Japanese scientist, manages through an experiment to freeze the water and examine its cellular scheme and he realizes that the frozen drops that have been previously manipulated by flower essences copied the pattern of the molecules of said flower from the oil. This is where it is also questioned whether the water remembers and programs the energy frequencies it receives. Emoto manages to duplicate the experiment to see if something changed when the drop of water heard metal or received comments or negative frequencies and the results led him to conclude that the water acts as a mirror copying nano-scheme.

schematics of what you receive. Modify its structure to copy a message or a secret. This is where I begin to examine the importance of water. The water in the river specifically, not just scientifically but poetically. What is a river for a city? What is the river for Blanca? Can you tell secrets, or record memories in a drop of water? Do we send messages inscribed in drops of water?

The Segura river that surrounds Blanca has a very interesting history, having been one of the most polluted rivers in Europe, and it happens to be one of the rivers with the lowest level of pollution in the course of just a decade. This means that, together with the bacteria, flora and fauna that inhabit “El Segura” works in collaboration to clean the river organically creating a harmony between species getting rid of chemicals and residues. I would not be surprised if in certain parts of the river, the water still remembers its contamination and in another the song of the otter while enjoying a water bath.

That is why I am interested in exploring how that memory stored by water can be visualized. What secrets will it host?

In “Memorabilia del Segura or Liquid Memory” this concept of water and its memory is explored, encapsulating a drop of water by means of a membrane from algae collected in different parts of the Segura river, Blanca Murcia. Its specific soundscape for each sector is surveyed and a sound record is created for each drop collected; in order to visualize and investigate what type of memory each drop of water stores. What do you remember and what is embodied in your molecular system? An invitation to admire and discover the memory of Water.

Earth beings

“Earth beings” continues a common thread that runs through Muñoz’s previous work -Noetic. Noetic consists of generating a method of communication with the plant kingdom, bringing us a knowledge that exceeds the field of biology, to delve into its secrets and discover its energetic and intuitive power.

This process leads her to create “Earth Beings”. Moved by Blanca’s landscape, she pauses to listen to the interior of the rocks, imagining their invisible inhabitants gliding through their depths.

“Earth beings” consists of a series of glass and plywood sculptures, made of natural matter transmuted -by time, by nature, by human hands and by machines.

Their organic forms give life to the space where they are installed, suggesting a post-human landscape in which the evolution of creatures goes through industrial phases, giving rise to new symbioses capable of surviving in future environments.
