The participants of Cruce Program can come for a period of minimum two weeks and maximum 3 months. In case of one month periods, the participation starts on the 1st of the first month and ends on the 30th of the last month or starts on the 16th of the first month and ends on the 15th of the last month. How is daily life in Blanca?

Blanca is a small rural town with about 6,000 inhabitants, located in the heart of the Ricote Valley in the region of Murcia.
Here you will find everything you need for daily life: a health center, banks, a weekly farmers’ market (Thursdays), a public swimming pool, essential shops, and lively traditional bars and restaurants. Throughout the year, the town hosts local festivities, and in summer you can swim at the Segura River promenade. The city of Murcia is only 40 km away and offers a wide range of specialized shops and cultural venues.

In addition to its Artist Residency Program and Cruce Program, AADK Spain also carries out other activities involving local, national, and international participants. We consider all guests, artists in residency, and team members part of a temporary shared community, where everyone contributes to creating a harmonious coexistence in a small town.

Within this environment, individual routines and shared rhythms naturally develop.
Some months may include several group activities organized by our team or the artists in residency, while other months may be quieter. For this reason, it’s especially important to communicate your needs clearly and constructively.

Regarding working spaces, they are assigned monthly based on each artist’s needs and in agreement with our team.
If you have specific requirements, please let us know in advance. You may access your workspace at any time. All artists work independently and manage their own schedules and daily routines. Please note that, due to the structure of our main building, completely closed workspaces are not possible.

Where do I have internet?

Wi-Fi is provided and free to use in the working spaces of Centro Negra. Because we are located in a rural area, the connection in the apartments can be weak or might not work properly.
There is a more stable Wi-Fi connection in the shared residential house Edom.

How is the weather throughout the year?

The region of Murcia is an area of semi-arid Mediterranean climate. It is one of the driest areas in Spain along with Almería and mostly sunny throughout the year. From mid-June to the end of August, the weather is very hot with an average temperature of 40 degrees and Saharan winds. You can enjoy the Segura River or visit the coast and its beaches, approximately 100 km away.
The temperature drops in autumn, although the average is usually 25 degrees. It is an ideal time to tour the Valley. Winters are dry and cold with irregular rainfall, but the sun warms during the day. Spring is also a recommended time to enjoy hiking in the Valley, with an average of 25 degrees and very sunny.

Temporary community

*AADK is a family-friendly space and welcomes children. Pets are also allowed, provided that the responsible person stays in a private apartment. It is possible to arrange childcare services.

Our programs and activities involve local, national, and international participants. Those who are part of AADK Spain, as well as those who visit us, become agents within a temporary and shared community, in dialogue with the local community of Blanca’s residents. In this context, each person assumes the commitment to contribute to a respectful and harmonious coexistence within a small-scale environment.

We understand this experience as an opportunity for encounter, exchange, and engagement with the creative processes of other participants, as well as with the social fabric and everyday life of the place that hosts us.

Personal care and support (extra services)

We offer a range of personal care and support services, including access to bicycles (subject to availability), massage sessions (Shiatsu, Ayurveda, and classical), yoga sessions, extra cleaning services, English classes (individual or group), and childcare support.
