13 Feb Gaëtan Rusquet
Residency Programme (April 2016)
Coming from performing art, during this residency, Gaëtan wanted to combine movement and sound. He was collecting soundscapes and testing how white noise could be affected by the body movement. In the first part of his residency, he experienced one of the town´s processions, a traditional parade where a collective body performs under the rhythm of the marching band.
What Rusquet proposes here is a parade of transducer-speakers. The sounds are a symphony of daily life interleaved with white noise. White noise is a random signal with a constant power spectral density, a metaphor of the life in community.
The speakers walking along the street, moved by the sound vibration with traditional music, bees buzz or the white noise reacting to a body breath; talk about the individual and the collectivity. The sound is an intangible matter provoked by the indispensible gatherings of the communal beings.
Gaëtan Rusquet has been granted for AADK Spain Residency Program by Centro Cultural Puertas de Castilla, the City Hall of Blanca y AADK Spain.
