AADK Spain has been developing artistic residency programs since 2012. These facilitate research, collaboration and knowledge exchange. Their main objective is to reflect on the potential of rural environments in a world that tends towards massive urbanization as we believe that working on a local scale allows us to rethink global problems.

Over the years, our residency programs have hosted more than 400 researchers and artists from all disciplines, ages and continents. Historically, they have addressed the themes of body, territory and spatiality. Currently, they are organized by different modalities and themes with the aim of deepening in different fields and collaborating with expert curators.

Each program has its own duration, modality and time of year. Fees may also vary. You will find this information at the end of this section and next to the description of each program.

For those who wish to apply with research projects and/or work in collaboration with members of the local community, we always recommend a minimum stay of two months.

In all of our residencies, participants are encouraged to maintain the exchange after their stay, with the intention of disseminating their work through exhibitions curated by the platform, papers, conferences and/or publications.

Cruce

Residencies of variable duration (minimum 2 weeks) open all year round, with reservation in order of application. Oriented to artists and creators of all disciplines. No specific theme.

Developed in Blanca, Murcia.

ON DURATION

Residencies of 1 month duration (August or September). Application through open call. Oriented to performance artists interested in deepening on durational performance practices and work in context (not exclusive).

Sound Residencies

Residencies of variable duration (minimum 2 weeks). Application through open call. Oriented to experimental musicians and sound artists interested in linking their work to the context.

Developed in Blanca, Murcia.

Immersive Residencies

Residencies of variable duration (minimum 2 weeks), in the spring and autumn months. Application through open call. Specific for outdoor work and research in the natural context. Open to all disciplines.

Critical Spaces

Residencies of variable duration (minimum 2 weeks). In the months of spring and autumn. Application through open call. Oriented to architects, landscape architects, researchers and all those people who wish to make a critical reflection on the geographical and ethnographic environment of the Ricote Valley.

Expanded Residencies

Residencies of variable duration (minimum 2 weeks). Application through open call. Developed in collaboration with rural spaces outside Spain. Oriented to artists and creators of all disciplines.
