Jo Lorente exposes a long series of paintings made in a free and subtle way portraying images of the unconscious and impressions of experiences. She paints with a very personal technique using a mixture of drawing wax and beeswax.
Due to the increase in price and the growing inaccessibility of one of these base materials, she became interested in researching about the life of bees and the consequences of their disappearance. This interest triggered her collaboration with Esther Fins, who researches beekeeping techniques in all parts of the world and their curative, uses.
Esther has been finding people in the surroundings committed to beekeeping, who share the sense of importance of the existence of this insect and the difficulties of a profession in extinction.
The pieces on polyurethane introduce us to the territory with a portrait of Blanca and two fragments of honeycomb. These are in dialogue with the following pieces, that are composed in a laborious way, reflecting the characteristics of feminine work that historically has been dedicated more to taking care of the swarm than to giving free rein to their own expressiveness.
One of the big fabrics reflects the imprint of her experience with Esther and a beekeeper, portraying the organic part of nature. The other, square, fabric tells us about the Black Hole that swallows all matter.
The installation that closes the space is composed of inorganic matter, mineral sediments collected in the Mazarrón mines.
The set of work tells us about the elements that compose our world: the tangible; presented in matter and the forces of the universe, and the intangible; made by the psychological and emotional world.
