25 Jan Jozefien Van der Aelst
Residency Program: September 2022
Graciano is a film (still unfinished), a documentary fiction in which the main character is presented as the protagonist of a tale. Based on a composition of fragments from Graciano’s life, Jozefien tells a story about loneliness and ways to confront it.
Graciano´s creative obsession, as well as the hope of meeting his loved one, are the tools Graciano uses to fight the isolation of his elderly life.
Both tools are, after all, ways of communicating with the world. Believing in potential listeners helps him articulating a thought that continues to make sense.
Graciano’s story confronts us with our deepest fear of loneliness. A ghost that haunts us all in contemporary society.
