Blanca’s Mommies

“We are part of the earth, within us we keep an ancestral memory that has the necessary information to be in balance.”

Fernanda is a visual artist of ritual and therapeutic practice. She makes images that serve as a tool to work with other people, either individually or collectively.

Her interest in creation and her self-taught nature allow her to play with different disciplines, such as music, movement, drawing or painting to put it at the service of self-knowledge and community bonding.

After some time sharing her intuitions with the Oracle of the mammies inspired by the stories and women of Peru, in Blanca and in a very spontaneous way, illustrations of new women with her own symbols came out. In them we can see the fresh look of someone who comes from outside that makes no distinction from European but also Arab features and identities, and brings us together in a cosmogony that belongs to a place before our time.

“El Oráculo de las Mamitas, is a tool that emerged from a purely intuitive creative process and connection with each of my senses.
It is a compilation of 17 images that gather the essence of the women of my lineage, of friends, teachers, witches, curanderas, healers, vendors, creatives, housewives, mothers, daughters, grandmothers, girls, sorceresses, midwives, lonely , therapists and many more…
Likewise, it is composed of the 4 elements (water, fire, earth and air), the 4 lunar cycles, 4 menstrual cycles, the 3 worlds of the Andean worldview, the sun and the moon.”
