19 Jul Michał Krajczok aka Gałgał
Festival ROTA – Residency period: June 2024
Born in Poland in 1978, Michał Krajczok grew up in Upper Silesia, moved to Germany’s
“Ruhrpott” in 1988, and has lived in Berlin since 2010.
He has been rooted in Berlin’s improvised and electronic music scene ever since, and is an
active member of several communities in Berlin and abroad. Recently, he gained attention
with the self-organised venue collaboration “90mil”, before that for many years at “West
Germany” at Kottbusser Tor and at the underground venue “Loophole” in Neukölln.
In addition to organising concerts, he also co-organises residency programmes, such as the
annual “Countdown Grabowsee”, a gathering of around 50-80 artists and musicians in a
rural area of Oranienburg.
Michał also works in the field of cultural exchange and has initiated cooperation between
Poland and Germany, in particular with the venue “Młodsza Siostra” and the community
radio station “Radio Kapitał”, with whom he works on concert and programming exchange.
For a few years now he has also been working for Archipel Radio, where he hosts a
programme on contemporary and experimental Polish music.
As a result of his musicology studies, where he focused on the expression and use of
contemporary music in film, he has written articles for the Polish magazine “Glissando” and
held several workshops and lectures on music, film and radio.
