06 Feb Miha Strukelj
Residency Program: May 2015
Miha focuses his interest on the dynamics that cities develop from their disparate influences. He investigates the history of local architecture, in particular how the subsequent structure of the locality has been transformed throughout history and how it has been affected by external influences: where it has been preserved, where it has expanded, and where it’s ended up being a ruin. From the Islamic conquest to modern Western Europe. Its moorish castle, turned into a landmark, is it a kind of ruin-monument or is it something else?
He is interested in the dialectic established by creating reference images situated between the real and the imaginary. This is directly linked to the understanding of modern digital technology that has completely saturated the imagination and has transformed our perception of reality.
