Nazario has watched how the legs of the women in the village work. Muscular impulses that carry memory. That embody the strength of a generation—the strength of silence. To understand, one must listen to silence. The strength of silence has the power to split any room in two.

“That is my firmness.”

He climbed the mountain and understood that he needed to find a communal place where the remote could reveal itself. He has hung a dripping piece of cloth from the ceiling and lit it. “I am going to unearth the word effort.”
