“You will find when you have come out of what you are not, that the ripple on the water is whispering to you, ‘I am That’; the birds in the trees are singing to you, ‘I am That’; the moon and stars are shining a beacon,’I am That’. You are in everything in the world and everything in the world is reflected in you, and at the same time you are that everything.”

Ping encounters the landscape of Blanca in a search for moments of presentness, meaning, closeness, peace and comfort. She has been reflecting on the question; “What am I?”, exploring the interconnectedness of herself with the natural environment, the fullness of being present in the moment and the transience of that moment and her experience.

Finding happiness in being saturated by natural surroundings, she seeks to communicate this sense of intimacy and immediacy to create work that is joyful and uplifting. She shares this feeling of being present using the essence of her impressions; rich colours and strong shapes, arranging the paintings around the space and immersing it in their brightness and warmth. This tension between the sensation of the present moment and the communication of that sensation plays out on the paper in her paintings; while clearly inspired by and representing the Blanca landscape, her own sense of experience and connection to this is revealed through abstract elements of colour and form.
