Ruralidades Cosmopolitas (Cosmopolitan Ruralities)

Contemporary Art and Critical Thinking in peripheral environments

“Blanca is a hidden place in nature, with mountains to get lost in, rich traditions and cultural diversity. Blanca is the place where you can be yourself. “

Our programming for this month of October continues to deepen and bet on generating spaces for meeting and reflection. Blanca has become a space where to foster a creative outlook and collaborative work, and where to value the potential of rural and semi-urban environments. Ruralidades Cosmopolitas opens the space again for contemporary art as an engine of transformation creating critical thinking from peripheral environments. We firmly believe that a reunion with nature and critical thinking are necessary to build a “new normality”, more respectful and inclusive, of which we all want to be part.

Conference: The drug. Concept and order vy Félix Soriano
+ guests from the University of Murcia

Sunday the 31st of October 12:00 h / Pedro Cano Foundation

Philosophy students from the University of Murcia give us a lecture on issues related to drugs, their use and abuse in different cultures, as well as their conception throughout history and the stigmatization of their use. Throughout the meeting, an attempt will be made to answer the most common questions about these issues and, in particular, those of how society has been facing the characteristics of these substances and what relationship they show with humans. In an open way, attendees will be invited to participate in the journey that the research project entails, being able to intervene and present their points of view.

Inauguration of the mural by the artist Gonzalo Borondo

Suntay 31st October 13:00 h / Municipal Park of Blanca

Blanca is one of the places of national and international reference regarding Urban Art. We have been working for almost 10 years to put these types of creations on the map, accessible to everyone. In this framework, Gonzalo Borondo culminates a cycle that began in 2013 with his mural located in the Huertos del Conde, in the middle of Gran Vía de Blanca. The work of this artist is full of details and he works the perspectives and angles with a unique mastery that fills it with magic. On this occasion, Borondo will inspire us again with a mural located in the Municipal Park of Blanca, intended to welcome visitors who enter our town by crossing the bridge, from the heart of our valley. AADK Spain, based in Centro Negra, adds this work by Borondo to the series of Urban Art interventions that have been developed in Blanca over the last year.
