Landscape memory
Ryan Cherewaty presents a video composed of explorations in the landscape in which talking about time from a non-human perspective.
Places, objects, trails, rocks, olive trees, rivers…these non-human objects that formulate the local space around us are indifferent observers to the passage of human time. Deterritorialised from anthropocentric concerns of temporality, these agents mesh freely with non-linear narratives that offer a glimpse into tectonic rifts, diluvial incursions and layers of civilisations past. This work is a sliver of this time-slice that bears witness to our interaction with these systems.
