Projection on photographs

A significant part of a town’s memory is found in the archives of its photographers. The image, once an individualized commodity, becomes collective memory with the passing of time.

The work of years, produced by a family of photographers, accumulates in boxes. Carefully preserved, meticulously selected… How much time must pass before such material acquires the value of an archaeological site?

Blanca’s photographer, practicing an inherited craft, has gone beyond his professional duties by safeguarding this material, waiting for it to come alive again so that we may continue tracing the footsteps of our ancestors.

To look from an aerial perspective at a town and record the fact that its urban layout contains lives is what this piece aims to do. Overlapping an old image with contemporary architecture is an impossible vision that this intervention has made possible.
