Virtual Reality
Sergio Sotomayor is exploring the infinitude of the virtual world. This medium is a metaphor of the endless universe and the huge range of possibilities which life offers.
If he would have born in another era he would have been a sculpture, but been a son of the 21st century his tools are digital. In the immersive 3d experience the piece continues alive, creating performativities on the visitor.
This specific work is an immersive experience whose reference is the very peculiar architecture of Blanca; what captured his attention was the assemblage of materials, chaotic traces of happenings, evidences of the time and the human hand.
The world he creates is composed by small urbanized islands, floating in a black matter. The black bubbles is a reference to the atoms, always present in his work, to remind us that things are more than what we see.
The predominance of the white colour appeals to the light and the potential of all kind of possibilities
The lack of human presence, the organic unfinished shapes of the buildings, the closed doors and windows create and enigmatic atmosphere introducing us in an oneiric world, a space between times, where one doesn’t know if is navigating after everything is over or when all events are about to happen.
