Residency Programme: July 2016
Connect: Blanca is part an international project of participatory performance art about connecting
with others. The performance is a celebration of life that builds relationships and a sense of local
community. The work uses repetition, and simple movements to break down barriers and bring
people together to share new experiences.
The artist is working with the community of Blanca, asking each participant five questions. Sylvia is
filming their answers and asking them to make common gestures of connection.
Connect: Blanca engages with the social dynamics, architecture, geography, and physical location
of the town. The work will create a social and visual portrait of Blanca.
